2024 Best Paper Award From the AI, Computer Science, and Robotics Technology Journal

Our ACRT journal introduces the inaugural Best Paper Award, recognizing the impactful contributions of our authors and starting an annual tradition to highlight their research.

This award aims to highlight the most impactful research published in the journal's 2023 volume, recognizing the innovative contributions of our authors whose work advances the understanding of AI, computer science, and robotics. It is essential for us to provide our authors with greater visibility, celebrating their work and its significance in shaping the future of these fields.

The winning paper for 2024 is: "Adversarial AI Testcases for Maritime Autonomous Systems."

Authored by Mathew J. Walter, Aaron Barrett, David J. Walker, and Kimberly Tam from the University of Plymouth, UK, the paper examines the security vulnerabilities of AI in maritime autonomous systems, highlighting the risks of adversarial attacks in real-world settings and proposing strategies to mitigate these threats throughout the AI lifecycle.

ACRT’s Editor-in-Chief, Timothy Sands, offered his view on the importance of the selected paper stating: “Gratitude goes towards the dedicated service and expertise of the editorial board and reviewers aiding the selection of the journal’s best paper. The best paper award honors the exceptional merit of the authors’ publication based on quality, originality, and article statistics like access, downloads, and citations. “Adversarial AI Testcases for Maritime Autonomous Systems” highlights security risks and delivers a set of principles to mitigate AI threats to maritime autonomous systems in situ and enjoins the ongoing development of artificial intelligence for the betterment of society."
