The book "MPox (Monkeypox) - Epidemiology, Pathophysiology, Clinical Manifestations, Treatment and Prevention Measures" will detail the pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical presentation, treatment principles, features of the 2022 epidemic, and prevention and control measures of MPox. MPox is a disease caused by an Orthopoxvirus and is typically associated with a rash, fever, and lymphadenopathy. Earlier outbreaks were confined primarily to Africa. A global outbreak of MPox was recognized in 2022 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States CDC, occurring primarily in men who have sex with men (MSM), both in Europe and the US. This book will be aimed at healthcare workers, infectious disease epidemiologists, and other public health workers, reviewing various aspects of MPox, including Orthopoxvirus viruses, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, case definitions and diagnosis, treatment, vaccines, prevention and infection control issues, and the evolving nature of MPox epidemiologic trends in the 21st century. This book will provide first-hand information on the prevention, control, diagnosis, and treatment of MPox. Contributions will be welcome from authors, physicians, and experts in infectious diseases, infection prevention and control, as well as public health, with extensive experience in preventing and treating MPox infections.
