Organocatalyzed C―H bond activation & Cross-Dehydrogenative Coupling reactions: Exploration with special emphasis by the use of new small molecules as Organocatalyst; Design, development and identification of new organocatalytic systems for C-H bond activation and direct arylation reactions. 2. Medicinal chemistry, drug discovery & process development: Mechanism/target/structure-based drug discovery, lead generation and lead optimization; Design, Synthesis and SAR study of new bio-active molecules, particularly in the field of novel antimalarials, antitubercular, anticancer, anti-influenza and psychoactive (CNS) agents. 3. Transition Metal-catalyzed C―C & C―N bond formation via C―H bond activation: Exploration with special emphasis by the use of cheaper transition metals; design and development of new metal-ligand catalyst systems and their investigations in direct arylation reactions. Investigation of cross-coupling, hydroarylations, and Cyclization as well as addition reactions via development of metal-ligand catalytic systems will also be pursued. 4. Development of catalytic asymmetric reactions / New Synthetic Methodologies. 5. Asymmetric catalysis / Synthesis: Design and development of new metallo-catalyst and organo-catalysts, development of direct catalytic asymmetric C-C bond-forming transformations. 6. Total synthesis of biologically active Natural Products/Drugs/Therapeutics. 7. Green chemistry: Application of microwave-assisted/ ultrasound-assisted organic transformations; Explorations of organic reactions either under solvent-free conditions or using cheap innocuous alternate reaction media such as water and ionic liquids.
