Alfred Chin Yen Tay is a leading researcher in H. pylori epidemiology, studying Helicobacter diversity in humans and animals through genomic analysis. His work at the Helicobacter Research Laboratory in the UWA Marshall Centre for Infectious Diseases Research and Training focuses on developing new diagnostic tools for Helicobacter infection. Dr. Tay’s studies on H. pylori antibiotic resistance have led to improved diagnostics and personalized treatments, achieving a 90% cure rate for resistant cases. He also founded the Helicobacter Fellowship Training Program, supported by the Australia Department of Foreign Affairs and Trading (DFAT), to enhance H. pylori research in developing countries.
