Jian Song

Jian Song received a BEng and Ph.D. from the Electronic Engineering Department, Tsinghua University, China, in 1990 and 1995, respectively. He was a postdoctorate at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China, and the University of Waterloo, Ontario, in 1996 and 1997, respectively. He then worked in the United States for seven years and joined Tsinghua University in 2005 as a full professor. He is now the director of the DTV Technology R&D Center, one of the major technical contributors to the Chinese DTV standard. Dr. Song has served as an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting since 2010 and is the general chair of IEEE SmartGridComm 2019 and IEEE BMSB 2014. He was elected the vice chairman of WP 6A of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2012 and is the founding editor-in-chief of two ITU-related academic journals, ICT Discoveries and Intelligent and Converged Networks. Dr. Song has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers. He also holds two US patents and more than eighty Chinese patents. He is the co-author of several books and book chapters.
