Dr. T. SUNDER MS (Gen), FRCS(Eng.), FRCS(Cardiothoracic), FCCP (USA) Director- Lung Transplantation, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai Dr. T. Sunder currently heads and directs the Lung transplant programme at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. He graduated (1987) from Stanley Medical College, Madras and got his Masters in General Surgery (1992) from his own Alma Mater. After a brief period in the Department of Cardiothoracic surgery at Madras Medical College, Chennai, he underwent further training in England for a period of 11 years. He qualified in Fellowship Examination in Cardiothoracic Surgery (2002) and was a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in England. He joined Apollo Hospitals, Chennai as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in2003 and helped start the Department of Heart-Lung Transplantation with his colleagues. He serves currently as • PRESIDENT of the Indian Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation • JOINT SECRETARY of the Heart Failure Association of India. • FOUNDER CHAIRMAN of the Society for Advanced Heart & Lung Disease His special areas of clinical interests include cardiopulmonary transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy, thoracic oncology. His academic interests include biostatistics and data analysis. He holds the following Editorial Posts currently held: • ASSOCIATE EDITOR for the Indian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery • SECTION EDITOR FOR HEART AND LUNG TRANSPLANTATION for the Journal of Practice of Cardiovascular Sciences. His general interests include: • He enjoys photography and is passionate about landscape and architectural photography. • He is a fountain pen enthusiast using fountain pens as his preferred writing instrument and has a growing collection of fountain pens. • He loves reading books on Philosophy, History, Fiction - Crime and detection, Legal drama, and Humour (A die-hard fan of PG Wodehouse).
