Katja Perdan Pirkmajer

Katja Perdan Pirkmajer, MD, Ph.D., is a rheumatologist and clinical pharmacologist in the Rheumatology Department, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slovenia. She received her Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 2013. In addition to being a clinician and clinical researcher, she is also an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana. As a member of the Slovenian National Research Program in Systemic Autoimmune Diseases, she has conducted research on autoimmune responses after influenza vaccination, the predictive value of antiphospholipid antibodies, and the mechanisms of methotrexate action through 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide (AICAR) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis. Her current clinical and research work is now focused on systemic sclerosis in Sjögren’s disease.
