Muhammad Waheed Riaz Ph.D. in Crop Genetics and Breeding I am currently working as Post Doctoral Researcher at Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, Hangzhou China. My research interests lie in the area of plant science, ranging from the theoretical application to wet-lab studies. My other areas of interest include plant biotechnology, genetic manipulation, and stress physiology studies. In wet-lab studies, I have studied the effects of the abiotic stress conditions on plants, including drought, salinity, cold, and heat stresses. The gene expression levels of some important gene families were investigated by using RT-PCR applications. Also, genetic diversity analyses were performed in plants by using molecular marker methods, such as ISSR, and SSR. Meanwhile, I also studied the morphological and phenotypic changes of wild-type and mutant plants, analyzed RNA sequencing data, and hybridization and response of Arabidopsis thaliana to different abiotic stresses. From the research, I have learned many kinds of molecular techniques such as mutant screening, plasmid preparation, ligation, transformation, genomic DNA extraction, total RNA extraction, RT-PCR, qRT-PCR, light microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and confocal imaging, etc., which will help me to get great achievement in my future researches. In recent years, I have focused on bioinformatics applications in plant genomes. I have mined gene members in plant genomes and comparative analyses were performed among plant species.
