Mimi Yang, Ph.D., is Professor Emerita at Carthage College. A New England Regional Fellowship at the Massachusetts Historical Society in Boston (2020 -22) enabled her to research and write on cultural and historical studies revolving around American themes. Trained as a Latin Americanist, she is an Americanist in Spanish and English-speaking worlds. A trilingual in English, Spanish, and Chinese, she is a prolific writer on Americanism and race relations. Her work on U.S. women’s suffrage, Latin American postmodernism, Frida Kahlo, and anti-Chinese historical roots have gained traction in several academic disciplines. She also is a featured and regular contributor to the commentary column in the 'Kenosha News” and the 'Racine Journal Times” in Wisconsin, dealing with pressing controversial cultural and sociopolitical issues. Her book Cultural Paradigms Across Chinese, English, and Spanish-Speaking Worlds was published by Edwin Mellon, in 2014. She is a recipient of numerous grants and fellowships, as well as regional and national teaching awards. Currently, she is the current Team Leader of the Review Team of the Cultural Studies Section at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago.
