Dr. Chawannuch Ruaengsri is a Clinical Assistant Professor, at the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, at Stanford University, USA. She spent almost 4 years in a postdoctoral position working in the arrhythmia surgery lab at Washington University in St. Louis under Professor Ralph Damiano, who developed the Cox-Maze IV procedure that made the operation easier, less invasive and remains the gold standard for the surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. During her research career, Dr. Ruaengsri developed a controllable, reversible mitral regurgitation model using a modified ventriculoatrial shunt and used this model to characterize the structural, electrical, and mechanical remodeling of the atria.
