Mejra Bektašević

Mejra Bektašević holds a PhD in the field of biochemistry and medicinal chemistry. She is currently employed as an Associate professor at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Bihać, majoring in biochemistry. Her field of research is the chemical and biological profile of medicinal plants used in the traditional medicine of BiH; the isolation and characterization of biologically active components, antioxidant activity, and inhibitory action. She completed her Master’s degree in analytical chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics at the University of Sarajevo, and her Doctoral degree in biochemistry and medicinal chemistry at the Faculty of Chemical Technology at the University of Split, Croatia. Dr. Bektašević authored and co-authored several papers in the field of her expertise; co-authored two university textbooks, and chapters in the book Essential Oils-Advances in Extractions and Biological Applications, Intech, 2022. Dr. Bektašević is a member of the Society of Chemists and Chemical Engineers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She was the guest editor of a special issue in the Separations; Bioactive Compounds from Natural Sources: Extraction, Characterization, Evaluation and Application. Orcid ID 0000-0002-2860-0898.
