Alfred Pawlik

Alfred Pawlik is a professor at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines, and Director of the Anthropological and Sociological Initiatives of the Ateneo (ASIA). He received his MA and Ph.D. (in Prehistoric Archaeology at the University of Tübingen, Germany, in 1992 and 1995, respectively. His research interests focus on the prehistory of Europe and Southeast Asia, the archaeology of hunter/gatherers/fishers, and the expansion and mobility of early and modern hominins. His research and excavations of prehistoric sites in the Philippines are aimed at exploring human population expansion and migration to remote islands and maritime interaction and interconnection, adaptive responses to changing environments, and the reshaping of prehistoric technologies across Southeast Asia and Oceania.
