"As data-sharing practices and policies grow more widespread, it’s more important than ever that we work with researchers to build processes and systems that effectively support them – and that unlock the potential for data re-use", said Jennifer Gibson, Executive Director at Dryad emphasising the value of open data in our webinar ‘Engaging with Open Science 2023: OPEN DATA’.
In the second of our Open Science series or webinars, we focused on what open data means for researchers and its impact on publication. Jennifer discussed how to publish and preserve open data, the importance of data repositories, focusing on the Dryad experience. She was preceded by Dr Kamran Naim, Head of Open Science at CERN, who gave an overview of the history of open data before identifying the key points in using open data, and their impact on open science, including an explanation of how open science/open data is practised at CERN.
