First in the webinar series 'Engaging with Open Science 2023: PREPRINTS,' launched with a discussion on how preprints are changing the landscape of academic publishing and impacting scholarly research.
The session chair Dr. Sarah Greaves, introduced the topics and provided context before introducing Eric Olson (Center for Open Science). Presenting on 'Why Preprints Matter', he covered the history, key points of using preprints, and their impact on open science. Mark Hahnel (Figshare) covered the practicalities of 'How to Create and Use Preprints', including their future possibilities and the importance of repositories. Finally, Dr Thomas Heinbockel (Howard University), our Digital Medicine and Healthcare Technology Editorial Board Member, shared his experiences in 'The Value of Preprints From an Academic Perspective.'
